Research about mobility is conducted and published in many languages, but the global dominance of English in academic publishing and international policy forums has resulted in the exclusion of a wide variety of opinions and perspectives.
In order to address these inequalities of current knowledge practices, the Mobile Lives Forum, a research institute on mobility and sustainability transitions, seeks to grant greater visibility to research conducted in Spanish and Portuguese in Central and South America. We will do this by translating articles into English and French and publishing them in our website, with a link to the original versions in Spanish and Portuguese.
Researchers and practitioners working on mobility-related issues are invited to submit short articles (1,500 words) in Spanish and Portuguese about any aspect of their work. We encourage submissions with a specific emphasis on people’s ways of life, aspirations and everyday practices and the challenges and opportunities of ongoing social, political and economic transformations for sustainable mobility transitions. We encourage the submission of articles about high-quality research that has been influential in policy and academic debates. We also encourage authors who have not previously published in English due to language barriers to participate.
Selected contributions will be translated into English and French by the Mobile Lives Forum and featured in the Mobile Lives Forum’s website and regular newsletter. Please note that audiovisual material (photos, videos, comic vignettes, sound recordings, etc.) can be included in the article when relevant.
Informations pratiques :
The deadline for this round of submissions is 31 May 2021.

Further information:
The Mobile Lives Forum is a research institute created in 2011 to foster critical research and debate about mobility futures. In collaboration with academic and civil society institutions worldwide we bring together practitioners, artists, scholars and the general public to discuss the role of mobility in the pursuit of individual and collective aspirations. Through this dialogue we seek to inform policies for sustainable mobility transitions.
The Mobile Lives Forum is a not-for-profit organization based in Paris and supported by the state-owned SNCF (French railways).
